Today's block is an easy one! Join us down by the boardwalk for a little fun...

This post is part of our summer quilt-along series. Find the rest of the posts by clicking {here}.

Many of you thought that this block from our QAL icons would make a great addition to this quilt and made your own versions since we came down to the Seashore. This is our version.

  • Fabric A (2) 7” square
  • Fabric B (1) 7” square
  • Fabric C (1) 7” square
  • Fabric D (4) 3” squares

Make Half Square Triangles
Draw a line on the diagonal of wrong side of (1) 7” Fabric A square. Place right sides together with (1) 7” Fabric B square. Sew ¼” away from each side of the marked line. Cut apart at marked line and press. Trim to 6½” square.
Repeat process from Step 1 to make HSTs from remaining Fabric A square and Fabric C square.

Easy Corner Triangles
Mark a line across the diagonal of the wrong side of (1) Fabric D square. Align with the lower right corner of HST unit. Take care to orient the HST as shown. Sew on the marked line. Trim ¼” away from marked line and press. Repeat with each HST unit.

Assemble Block
Layout block units as shown. Sew together in rows.

This block finishes at 12" square.

Enjoy your summer At the Seashore!
